Kasbahs & Ksars

On this private day trip, you’ll travel across the High Atlas Mountains to reach a vast desert plain that forms the outer reaches of the Sahara. This is a remarkable land of contrasts with river-fed oasis towns, contorted ancient volcanic wilderness, flourishing valleys, dramatic stone and mud-built Kasbahs and fortified villages known as Ksars.

 

Travelling with a driver-guide you’ll visit Telouet and Taourirt Kasbahs plus the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Ksar at Ait Benhaddou. The Ksar of Ait Benhaddou is a striking example of the architecture of southern Morocco. The ksar, a group of earthen buildings surrounded by high walls, is a traditional pre-Saharan habitat. The houses crowd together within the defensive walls, which are reinforced by corner towers.

ITINERARY

0700  Pick up from your riad or hotel. Drive on Tizi n’Tichka route into the Atlas

1000  Arrive at Telouet Kasbah. Visit Kasbah then continue to Ait Benhaddou

1200  Visit Ait Benhaddou. Optional lunch: our driver-guide will recommend options 

1430  Depart on short drive to Ouarzazate

1500  Explore Taourirt Kasbah in Ouarzazate

1600  Depart Ouarzazate back to Marrakech

1900  Arrive Marrakech. Drop off at your riad or hotel
