Oualidia is well off the tourist trail but well worth a visit if you fancy a lazy day on the coast as part of your stay in Morocco.

Famous for its oysters, delicious fresh seafood and splendid seawater lagoon, for most of the year Oualidia is a dreamy Atlantic fishing town. A long sand bar separates the wild Atlantic Ocean to create a tranquil and very picturesque lagoon. Nearby, the Oualidia estuary is a haven for migratory birds.

On this lazy day, we include a boat trip to explore the lagoon. You’ll have time to unwind on the dune-swept beach and, if you fancy something more energetic you can hire a kayak, mountain bike or walk along the coast.

0800 Depart Marrakech. Coffee/tea stop en route to Oualidia

1100 Arrive at L’Hippocampe, our lagoon-side base for the day

1130 Included boat trip with bird watching on Oualidia lagoon

1230 Free time for seafood lunch, beach, kayak or mountain bike hire

1700 Depart Oualidia back to Marrakech
